The Resurgence of the British West Indies Home

Written by Bokka Admin | September 26, 2014

The Naples, Florida area is rich with tropical sunshine, refreshing coastal breezes, and lovely views, making the British West Indies style one of the perfect choices for your home.

Driving along the Southwest Florida coastline, there are many opportunities to see the diversity in exterior home styles. From Art Deco and Modern homes to Mediterranean and Spanish homes, our home styles are as diverse as the people that live here. In the past couple of years, the British West Indies theme has re-emerged, bringing a casual, open island feel to homes in the area with lots of windows, shutters to provide shade from the sunshine and rain, and covered porches.

Although not an entirely new addition to the look and feel of our homes, the British West Indies style is a welcome addition to our luxury custom homes inventory, most recently including the Southampton and a One-of-a-Kind private residence.

Southampton

The Southampton provides a perfect example of the comfort and ease of a British West Indies style home, with large transom windows to let in the natural light and a coastal interior design that allows you to fully enjoy the coastal breezes flowing throughout this Old Naples home.

View the charm of these coastal elements, along with the pops of turquoise, blue-greens, grays, and chartreuse found in the home’s interior design, by visiting the model walk-through, or by setting up an appointment with our dedicated Sales Executive. The Southampton is open for viewing seven days a week and is conveniently located near our second coastal cottage currently under construction in Old Naples: the Chelston.

One of a Kind Residence

One of the custom homes we have created for our clients in the past brings the West Indies design to another level with the use of shutters and covered porches and balconies exquisite enough to be located in one of the finest areas in Naples, Florida. The covered outdoor living area in the rear of the home features two seating areas and a summer kitchen connected to the interior of the home with the use of wall to wall sliding glass doors, seamlessly blending the use of indoor and outdoor space. The seating areas extend throughout the back of the home, creating ample space for the whole family to enjoy the beautiful weather in Southwest Florida.
