The first time I saw The Avignon, I felt like I was walking towards a French countryside home where I would be able to take a stroll through the gardens and finish the afternoon drinking tea by the fountain. There’s an elegant simplicity that is brought out by the black-gray metal accents, watercolor blue casings and mullions in shutters, and French doors of the custom home and I hadn’t even experienced the air of refinement provided by the exquisite interior design.
No, at that moment, I was just taking in the well-sculptured landscape and the balcony resting just above the multi-paned front doors, and absorbing the details found in the multi-paned windows meticulously framed by styled greenery. I had only an inkling as to the luxury that awaited me once I passed through those doors, and I was not disappointed once I entered.
The Avignon custom home in Quail West Naples FL is an amalgamation of indulgence and luxury with a simple yet elegant French interior design, a spacious floor plan, and four private bedrooms tucked away from the gathering spaces of the home to increase privacy. Every room is delicately and meticulously designed to evoke a “clean French look” with a palette of soft aqua, sea foam, and blue against white and neutral backgrounds and select furniture pieces, ivory and bisque finishes, and antique mirrors, as well as contemporary and retro lighting fixtures. The 5,895-square-foot model home by London Bay Homes feels airy and fresh with the chosen color palette, allowing the open space consisting of the great room, kitchen, and dining room to welcome guests for a day of conversation, dining, and entertainment.
When I first passed through the entry, I walked into the quaint sitting room with a beautiful fireplace designed so that its brick herringbone interior casts a soft light that I imagine dances off the graceful scroll design in the contemporary gold chandelier when the fireplace is lit in the evening. A cabinet with a gray finish and fretwork overlay just next to the fireplace lends itself to the French design of the home and complements the mismatched walnut ivory nesting tables and the brass, natural bone, and clear glass coffee table. I crossed the foyer and passed the stair hall to find the study with its freestanding contemporary styled bookcase, gloss-white desk with pearl leather inserts on the top, a light-toned leather arm chair, and a French blue credenza with aged-gilded accents.
This study lead me to the first-floor master suite, set away from the main rooms in the opposite side of the home to create a relaxing private wing. Upon entry, the first design elements I noticed were the king-sized poster bed finished in French blue, a tufted and buttoned settee in aged gray, a cottage blue dresser, and a mirrored writing desk with aged-gold accents that made me yearn to take a seat and begin writing a letter the moment my eyes rested upon it. The desk sits in front of a rectangular bay window that seems ideal for gathering inspiration from the clear blue skies, the bright greens of Quail West’s Arthur Hills-designed golf course, and the coveted southern exposure of the home.
It was hard to tear myself away from the peaceful surroundings of the master bedroom, but I was not disappointed to find that the mesmerizing view I discovered from the expansive bay window was also visible from the equally alluring outdoor living space. There are multiple ways to reach the outdoors from The Avignon as both the sitting room and study access the covered terrace that leads to the sparkling custom pool with a sun shelf, circular spa, water fountain, and outdoor fireplace. The great room and dining room, as well as the few other indoor areas that provide access to the outdoors via blue-framed French doors, open up to the alfresco living spaces. Once outside, I couldn’t believe how expansive the space is, and how many different get-togethers and festivities I could plan with the different areas meticulously placed throughout the space. The covered terrace, lanai, outdoor living room, and adjoining dining/outdoor kitchen with a bar made me envision my family coming over to spend the holidays with us in beautiful Naples Florida, and splashing around in the pool on gorgeous sunny days when our friends from the north are shivering in their winter boots.
After tearing myself away from my daydream, I remembered that I had not yet seen the other bedrooms of the home. After all, my family needs a place to rest their head during their stays. One of the guest bedrooms is located off the great room, while the other two bedrooms can be found on the second-floor of the Avignon custom home after climbing the elegant white semi-gloss painted staircase or taking a short ride on the elevator located inside the home. The bedrooms sit on opposite sides of the casual loft and both feature walk-in closets and summer white, rustic ivory, driftwood, and silver leaf finished furnishings. Each of the upstairs bedrooms and the loft feature the beautiful Southern exposure view of the Arthur Hills-designed golf course in Quail West, as well as the spacious outdoor living space of The Avignon. The balcony just outside of the second-story spans the length of the home for an expansive and elevated view of the world around you. I also accessed the cozy balcony that I noticed at the front of the home when I first arrived at The Avignon from the second-floor loft.
The views alone are exquisite enough to make me want to call The Avignon my new home, but the architectural details found on the inside and outside of the home, as well as the elegant French interior design by Melissa Allen of Romanza Interior Design complemented the peaceful, natural surroundings. Everything blends together so well to provide a luxurious world where nature, simplicity, elegance, and design create a setting fit for the most discerning homeowners.
